Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of solar panels does Solar Fusion use?

We use the Jinko N-type Full Black solar panels. They have an output of 420 Watt peak and are part of the Tiger Neo N-type series, providing a higher yield per square meter even in cloudy weather. These Jinko solar panels have a 25-year product warranty and a power warranty of 30 years!

What happens if I generate more energy than I use?

If you’re generating more energy than you consuming in the Netherlands, you have the option of delivering the excess energy back to the grid. In the Netherlands, this is often arranged through the system of net-metering. Offsetting means that the energy you feed back is offset against the energy you take off the grid.

For example, if you have solar panels on your house and they produce more energy than you use, the excess energy will flow back into the power grid. This surplus is then offset against the energy you consume at times when you need more energy than you generate, such as at night or on cloudy days.

By delivering energy back to the grid, in some cases you can even receive compensation for the energy delivered. This can vary depending on your energy supplier and the specific balancing policy in place at the time.

However, it is important to note that the exact rules and conditions regarding net-metering and feed-in compensation may vary and are subject to changes in energy policy. It is therefore advisable to contact your energy supplier for specific information about balancing schemes and feed-in fees in your situation.

How many solar panels do I need?

The amount of solar panels you need depends on several factors, including:

  1. Energy consumption:
The first thing to determine is your average energy consumption. You can find this on your energy bills or by contacting your energy supplier. The higher your energy consumption, the more solar panels you will generally need to meet your needs.
  2. Sun exposure:
The number of sunlight hours and the intensity of solar radiation in your region affect the output of solar panels. Places with more hours of sunshine generally have higher yields. In the Netherlands, you can assume average solar radiation, but it may be useful to consult specific data for your location.
  3. Panel efficiency:
The efficiency of solar panels can vary. Panels with higher efficiency produce more electricity per unit area. If you have limited space on your roof, using higher-efficiency panels can help you generate more energy.
  4. Available roof space:
The available space on your roof plays a role in determining how many solar panels you can install. Larger roofs offer more room for panels, while smaller roofs may have more limited options.
  5. Objective:
Depending on your goals, such as being completely self-sufficient or covering part of your energy consumption with solar energy, you can adjust the number of solar panels.

It is advisable to consult a professional solar panel installer. They can help you assess your specific situation, determine your energy needs and design a solar energy system that meets your requirements.

What is the difference between a Growatt inverter and Enphase micro inverters?

Growatt and Enphase are two well-known manufacturers of inverters for solar power systems. Although they both produce inverters, there are some differences between the products and business philosophies of the two brands.

  1. Technology:
Growatt and Enphase use different inverter technologies. Growatt offers traditional string inverters, which is where multiple solar panels are connected in series and connected to one inverter. Enphase, on the other hand, is known for its microinverters. These are small inverters that are installed directly behind each solar panel, allowing each panel to be optimized individually.
  2. System performance:
Enphase’s use of microinverters offers some advantages over string inverters. Microinverters maximize power generation by reducing the impact of shade, pollution or single solar panel problems. Microinverters allow panels to operate independently of each other, which can make the system as a whole more efficient. String inverters, on the other hand, are affected by the performance of the weakest panel in the string.
  3. Monitoring and management:
Enphase offers advanced monitoring and management systems, such as the Enphase Envoy/Gateway. Allows solar system owners to track and monitor the performance of each individual solar panel in real time. Growatt also offers monitoring solutions, but functionality may differ among models and may not be as comprehensive as Enphase’s.
  4. Warranty:
Growatt inverters have a 10-year product warranty, while Enphase offers a product warranty of up to 25 years.

It is important to note that the performance and reliability of an inverter depends not only on the brand, but also on the specific model and installation conditions. It is advisable to compare the specifications, warranties and user experiences of different inverters before making a decision that best suits your particular solar power system.

The work was carried out very neatly. Not only through how the panels are mounted, but also through how the cable to the meter box is laid and in communicating with the customer.
Everything is thought about in advance, which means you never feel like things should've been done differently afterwards. I think that's important. The work in the meter box has been carried out future-proof. We are satisfied!

Mevrouw van Hout, OudkarspelOktober 2022

Hard-working people who put work first and don't care about a few hours more or less. Very polite!
Uphold appointments and deliver good work. If I were to install more panels, they'd definitely be installed by Solar Fusion.
